Sustainable Christmas
• WHAT will be done
Description:
What’s most important when it comes to Christmas decoration is creativity! Therefore, the Union of Parishes of Perafita, Lavra and Santa Cruz do Bispo, challenges the community to create and share, incorporating the concept of recycling materials to be used in this year’s Christmas decorations. The goal? Reuse packaging that is no longer used and build Christmas trees! Packaging can be plastic, cardboard, and glass.
“Sustainable Christmas” is the name of the action that the Union of Parishes of Perafita, Lavra and Santa Cruz do Bispo, enrolled in the “European Week for Waste Reduction” – European Week for Waste Reduction. This action aims to challenge the population, the school community and the associative community of Perafita, Lavra and Santa Cruz do Bispo, to build a Christmas tree, from the reuse of end-of-life packaging. This initiative aims to raise awareness of sustainable consumption and the circular economy, demonstrating that a material in order can be valued. In the end, the materials used in the structures produced will be sent for recycling, aiming once again at their recovery in the chain.
The Christmas trees will be placed in the public spaces of the parish, during the European Week for Waste Reduction (18 to 26 November), and will be on display throughout the Christmas season.
