EWWR action chosen for European database of best practices
In 2012, nine social enterprises from this network worked together in a common campaign during the European Week for Waste Reduction to encourage citizens to give their old clothes and weigh them. This action had two aspects: awareness raising and second hand clothes collection. They used various activities, including an exhibition of “tuned” bring bank, visits of sorting facilities and textile refurbishment workshops.
As a result of this campaign, second hand shops saw a significant increase of the clothes collected compared to the same period in the previous years. More than 500 tonnes of textiles were collected in one week!
If you also don’t know what to do with your old clothes or items, the EWWR always has some good ideas and tips for you:
The EWWR is sure that many more of its creative and innovative actions will soon be added to this database of best practices on circular economy.
Let’s all work together for a more sustainable Europe!
