FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) is an initiative aiming to promote the implementation of awareness-raising actions about sustainable resource and waste management during a single week, usually the last week of November.

The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) takes place every year during the last week of November. In 2021, it will take place from 20 to 28 November. More information: www.ewwr.eu

There are three ways to take part in the EWWR:

  • As an action developer, namely by organising one or more action during the EWWR days in November. In order for your action to be officially part of the EWWR, you have to register it on the EWWR website. Everybody can be an action developer!
  • As a participant, find an action on the EWWR map and join it!
  • As a coordinator, if you are a public authority with a competence on waste prevention.

To register an action you need to create an account on the EWWR website and then fill in the registration form. You should register each action separately if your activities take place in more than one place, this will allow more people to find you on the map!

Watch the video tutorial or read the guide (available in Catalan, English, Greek, Italian and Spanish) for more details.

Registration for the EWWR open in September and close one week before the start of the EWWR.

All communication materials that you can find on the website are free to use for action developers and for anyone who uses to promote waste prevention. These official materials should be use during the EWWR to advertise your action.

The first step is to plan and implement an outstanding action. Be sure to follow the validation criteria! You can also check out what the EWWR 2018 finalists and winner did. Then fill in the dedicated form below the registration form, this way the responsible Coordinator will be notified of your wish to compete for a EWWR Award.

Absolutely not! Although we promote a thematic focus every year to draw attention to one specific issue, you can organise an action on any topic related to the 3Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle.
