Do you want to organise an action during the EWWR?
Click HereThe European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) encourages all Europeans and not only to carry out awareness-raising actions about sustainable resource and waste management during a single week in November.
Our participants are very diverse. Public authorities from cities, municipalities, regions, and waste management companies; private companies; civil society organisations; schools and universities; as well as citizens themselves are welcome to take part in the EWWR.
Next years’ edition will take place from 21 to 29 November 2020.
Registrations will open in late summer 2020. Follow us on social media to receive our updates!
EWWR Awards
The best actions organised during EWWR 2019 will be rewarded at our awards ceremony in June 2020. There will be an award dedicated to five different types of action developers: public administrations; associations; private comanies; educational establishments; and citizens. And we’ll even have a European Special Prize that will go to the action that best demonstrated a European spirit and helped to bridge physical distances in the fight against waste!
EWWR 2019 to focus on waste education and communication

Having access to reliable information about the impact of consumption and waste generation on the environment is an essential precursor to changing one’s behaviour and daily habits surrounding these issues. For EWWR 2019, we challenge participants to educate themselves and others about waste and to put that knowledge into practice by changing their daily consumption habits in order to reduce their waste. Our theme for this year is Waste education and communication and we’ll be rallying support under the slogan Change your ways, Reduce your waste. Please use #EWWR2019 and #ReduceYourWaste to spread the word on social media.
Learn more about this year’s theme and consult our ideas for activities and thematic materials on the designated page on the EWWR website.
You can also explore the themes of our previous editions here.
3Rs and a clean-up

The actions carried out during the EWWR address the “3Rs”: Reduce waste, Reuse products, Recycle material. The “3Rs” represent the options which should be considered first when elaborating a waste management strategy or when seeking to reduce your waste.
